Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale Beer Review

Arrogant Bastard Ale
Stone Brewing Co. – Escondido, CA
ABV: 7.2%

CHUG Rating:
Chuggability: 6
Arrogant Bastard is just that, arrogant as all hell. It’s a kick in the mouth, and like the bottle says “You probably won’t like it”. That’s because it’s a big mofo that tastes like everything. It’s tough to tackle, but we’re getting good here at Team Chug. I’m pretty sure the lowest chug score a beer will get for me is like a 5 at this point, every beer is chuggable
How Much: 7
I threw down a cool $5.99 for a 22oz bottle. The world of 22’s is a weird one when you’re used to buying 6-packs and cases, but trust me, $5.99 isn’t too much to ask for a brew like this. Stone priced this one just about right
Uhhh…Taste: 7
Let me quote the bottle like every other beer review site, “You probably won’t like it. It is doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this fine quality and depth.” Hey, Stone…challenge accepted. I’ll get semi-serious here and say this brew has a huge hop punch, but a sweet caramel taste, with some earthy pine notes and citrus taste as well. Beer snob rating aside, like I said before, this beer has everything. It all rounds out and comes together pretty damn well, but the alcohol content isn’t hidden enough. It tastes as strong as it is. If it had that mask on and had me thinking it was only 5% while it was really kicking my ass this would have been stamped
Gettability: 9
40 states year round? Ya, Arrogant Bastard can be found everywhere that’s important

Overall Rating:   7.8

Arrogant beats: Kanye West – “Can’t Tell Me Nothin”
