It’s not often you think of a double IPA as chuggable, but I’d venture to say that this one is. I’m certain that’s not the intent of the brewmaster in this case, but here at Team Chug, we like to drink outside the box and sometimes that means drinking a 9% beer in about 4 seconds. The fact that it went down so easily says a lot about the drinkability of it, so even if you’re just sipping it you’ll appreciate the smoothness.
How Much: 7
I paid $9.99 for a 4-pack at my local liquor store. That’s not exactly cheap, but considering the huge ABV and the massive hop flavor it’s worth it. I work this into my beer rotation sometimes when I want to treat myself as if to say, “Well done, PoopThoughts, you’ve earned something special today.” Or if I just feel like getting drunk off of 4 beers. I would even be so bold as to compare this to DogFish Head 90-Minute IPA, and it’s even a bit less expensive.
Let me consult my double IPA checklist: Massive hop flavor? Check. Huge ABV, but doesn’t taste like it? Yep. Intensely smooth finish? Boom, trifecta. The result is a huge, bitter, hoppy extravaganza that’s not for the faint of heart.
Myrcenary is a year-round offering and Odell Brewing distributes to 10 Rocky Mountain states.
