I ended up getting it down with only minimal spillage, but still a little sloppy. It’s smooth and creamy, but I find that the creaminess is what catches up with you near the bottom. This is the kind of beer that leaves you with a gnarly beer foam ‘stache.

I paid $9.99 for a 4-pack at my local liquor store. It’s a little on the higher end, but the quality is certainly there. I wouldn’t have any problem pulling the trigger on this again if I’m in the mood for a big, dark beer.
This is an interesting style that is certainly best enjoyed during winter months. It’s like a stout for an IPA lover. It’s thick and dark, but instead of a chocolate/coffee/roasted malt finish, you get a nice kick of hops. This one also gets a bonus for being a very deceptive 9.5% ABV. Big, complex and satisfying…this is a great beer to kick back on your couch and wait for Santa to arrive.
Mountain Standard Black IPA is a seasonal offering (winter) and Odell Brewing distributes to 10 Rocky Mountain states.
