I mean, I got it down…but it wasn’t easy. There was the standard obstacle of hoppiness and alcohol, but this was a whole different beast. It was like the hops and alcohol were having a sword fight the entire way down my throat and it continued into my gut as I tried to utter a review.
How Much: 1
My local liquor store sells this for $9.99 for a six-pack and I have made the mistake of buying it in the past, but I thought I’d give it one more chance so I grabbed a single. Never again.
This may even be too high. I know I’ve rated some New Belgium beers poorly in the past, so it may seem like I have some sort of vendetta against them, but I don’t. It’s a fantastic company. They’re environmentally conscious and are ranked as one of the best employers in Colorado. Having said that, I’m not going to pull any punches on this one because it was fucking brutal. Probably the worst Imperial IPA I’ve ever had. Like I mentioned earlier I bought a six-pack of this awhile back and could only drink 2 of them. I gave the rest away to a “friend.” It’s literally the first beer I’ve ever had to do that with. I don’t know if it’s the style of hops they use, but I just can’t wrap my head around the flavor. It’s not smooth at all and it tastes like bad hops and rubbing alcohol. Sorry to keep pounding it into the ground, but there isn’t anything good I can say about it. I did a review of Budweiser awhile back and gave it a 1, but mostly just to be facetious. I would gladly drink 100 Budweisers before I ever had another Rampant.
Year round offering distributed to at least 34 states. New Belgium is the 3rd largest craft brewer in America and always seems to be expanding, so if you want their beers you’ll probably be able to get them sooner or later.
