Chug Madness – Final Four Wrap-up and Championship Announcement

The Final Four is complete! All of your votes have been tallied, and the two beers who will be battling for the title of Team Chug Super Elite Champion have been determined. We had ourselves a blowout, and a nail biter. Two games that really could have gone either way, because all four beers brought a different strength to the table, but only two beers will be moving on. Here is their story.

Game 1 Breakdown

90MinuteWinner

Game 1 of the Final Four featured a match-up between a World Renowned “perhaps the best IPA in America” vs a local, little-known powerhouse that fuses two amazing styles into one bomber and wins your heart. Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA was the clear favorite in this match up, having bowled over everyone it has faced, but this Belgian Double IPA called Audacity of Hops didn’t wanna quit. Audacity has a lot of local support, and they came out strong in this match up. They battled back and forth changing leads the entire game, but ultimately the brew masters from Milton, DE managed to earn just 1 more vote than the local hopefuls from Cambridge, MA. It’s sad to see Audacity go home packing, they made a great run, but just fell short on the big stage. Dogfish Head, congratulations on placing 90-Minute IPA in the finals. “Perhaps the best IPA in America” has a chance to be crowned the Chug Madness Super Elite Champion, be proud.

Game 2 Breakdown

Final Four Game 2 was less thrilling, but amazing to watch nonetheless. The match-up brought you a big badass Double IPA that some people may avoid because they’re intimidated little chicken shits, Anderson Valley Heelch O’Hops. The challenger was a very well known, sexy, approachable, and downright delicious canned brew, Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale. Dale’s got a few votes early on, but really lost steam by the half. It had just given its all to get past the Elite Eight bracket favorite in Odell Myrcenary, so maybe Dale was just wiped out. Either way, Heelch O’Hops got a ton of support, and it surged past Dale to take the win by almost two thirds of the overall votes. This monster Double IPA just might have what it takes to take down Dogfish 90 in the Championship. Congrats to Anderson Valley Brewing Company, Heelch O’Hops has been proven delicious enough for a shot at the title!

Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA will take on Anderson Valley Heelch O’Hops starting tomorrow, April 9th, for the title of the Team Chug Super Elite Champion.

Voting will be open from 10:00am Eastern Time, April 9th – 7:00pm Eastern Time, April 10th.

Get ready to vote, folks. We’re expecting to be on the edge of our seats, and I don’t think you’ll disappoint. Without further adieu, we give you the Team Chug Championship Bracket!
