Ellie’s Brown Ale
Avery Brewing Co. – Boulder, CO
ABV: 5.5%

CHUG Rating:
Chuggability: 7
Brown Ales are intimidating to the beer novice because they’re “dark” therefore it must be “heavy and strong”. Wrong. This beer goes down very smooth and only clocks in at 5.5%, meaning you can pound a ton before you’re on your ass asking what your name is
How Much: 7
Ellie’s Brown Ale cost me $11.79 for 6-pack in Boston. It’s not the best price for a craft brew, but it’s par for the course around here. Oh, and did I mention it’s TeamChug Approved? Ya, this one is worth it
Uhhh…Taste: 9
Damn. Not a whole lot to say here, just, … wow. This brew has got more sweetness than most Brown Ales, but it’s not overly sweet. It’s hopped lightly like most brown ales but it’s not under-hopped. This beer is perfect down to the last grain that Avery added to the mash
Gettability: 8
Ellie’s Brown Ale is offered year round either partially or fully distributed in 30 states all over the Land of the Free

OVERALL: 9.4
