Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout

Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout
Anderson Valley Brewing Co. – Boonville, CA
ABV: 5.8%

CHUG Rating:
Chuggability: 6
If you remember Stout Week back in February, you know that no stout is going to be an easy chug. Barney Flats is no exception. Any time that burnt roasted barley flavor is present it makes for a difficult chug. Luckily this brew isn’t too potent ABV-wise, so it was doable
How Much: 6
Anderson Valley is asking $11.99 for a 6-pack of Barney Flats. The upside, it’s a 6-pack. The downside, it didn’t get a stamp. Drop a dollar off of this sixer and it’d be getting a pretty good good price rating
Uhhh…Taste: 7
Barney Flats is a nice smooth medium bodied oatmeal stout. The oats in the brew add a creamy mouthfeel that you can only really find in oatmeal stouts and milk stouts. It has a deep charred roasted malt flavor with a toffee sweetness and coffee notes. Maybe the bottle sat in my fridge for too long, but there was just something off about this beer keeping it from getting stamped, but it was damn close
Gettability: 8
You can find Barney Flats in 31 states year round in various packaging styles: 12 oz. bottles, 22 oz. bombers, on tap, and in 12 oz. cans

Overall Rating:   7.9

Tunes: Brad Paisley – Throttleneck
