Anchor Brewing California Lager Beer Review

California Lager
Anchor Brewing – San Francisco, CA
ABV: 4.9%

CHUG Rating:
Chuggability: 7
I struggled a bit, but that’s strictly because this was the first chug of the night. Goes down smooth, but the heavy carbonation keeps this to 7 at a max.
How Much: 7
Not too bad for a solid beer. Although I’m not sure if I’d consider this “Craft” seeing how widely distributed it is, $9.49 for a 6-pack won’t kill ya.
Uhhh…Taste: 6
This beer has what you’re looking for. As far as a widely distributed Lager goes, this crushes all of the “Big 3” breweries in Bud, Coors, and Miller, but falls short of some lagers like Sam Adams. Nice and smooth, great aftertaste. If I had a yard (which I don’t…be jealous..or not) I could easily see pounding a 6-pack of these bad boys while I edged the walkway, or whatever you adults do.
Gettability: 8
Normally I’d give this a 10, seeing as it’s a year round offering from Anchor, who distributes to all 50 states. However, their site states “YEAR ROUND IN SELECT U.S. MARKETS”, So they may just be testing it out as of now.

Music – Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dani California
