I’ll start by saying that you shouldn’t chug this beer. Nobody should. It’s delicious, so it’s worth savoring. It’s pricey, so chugging it isn’t cost-effective. And it’s 9% ABV, so it can knock you on your ass. Having said all that, it was super smooth and surprisingly easy to chug and I could have done another one immediately afterwards.
How Much: 7
The only negative thing I can say about this beer is the price, but man sometimes you just gotta splurge. My local liquor store sells this for $11.99 for 4-pack. That’s on the far end of what I like to spend on beer, but when I do decide to go big this is the one I’m looking for.
It has been said that this is “perhaps the best IPA in America.” That’s a bold statement, but they’ve certainly got a case here. Even with the hype and bravado, I find that this beer fully lives up to it’s billing. You’d be hard-pressed to find an IPA with as much hops flavor and high alcohol content that goes down as smoothly as this one. I love any beer that can mask a big ABV with big flavor, and this one does it as well as any beer I can think of. If you’re a fan of IPAs, you owe it to yourself to try one of the finer examples of the style and that’s preceisely what this is. Stamped.
90 Minute IPA is a year-round offering and Dogfish Head distributes to 28 states, though mostly near the coasts.
