The 12 Beers of Christmas – Day 3: Victory Winter Cheers

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
Winter Cheers
Victory Brewing Co.
Downington, PA
ABV: 6.7%

CHUG Rating:
Chuggability: 7
Did you think I was going to let PoopThoughts have all of the Christmas fun? Not a chance! I ripped this Winter Cheers down faster than you could have “Cheers’d” 2 of your friends at your next ugly sweater party. It has a fairly light mouthfeel, and although the carbonation was higher than expected, I was in the zone and this brew never stood a chance
How Much: 5
You can raise a glass of Winter Cheers this holiday season for $10.49 a 6-pack. Not a bad price, pretty much par for the course around Boston. I’d buy it again if there wasn’t anything else available, but there are better brews out there this Christmas
Uhhh…Taste: 6
Some breweries have a certain flavor to their beer that acts like a signature, and you see that here with Winter Cheers by Victory Brewing. It’s a “Winter Wheat Ale”, but has a lot of the same flavor notes you’ll find in their Golden Monkey Belgian Tripel. It has a high carbonation and a very light mouthfeel, with the spicy and fruity notes you’ll find in typical Belgians. It’s airy, with a lot of spice in the finish. You get a slight alcohol warming burn from that 6.7% ABV, but it’s not overpowering
Gettability: 4
Keep an eye out for Winter Cheers during the winter months (duh) on the shelves in 29 states

Overall Rating: 6.4

Suggested food pairing: French Hen Fritters
